The late Barbara Mertz, PhD., who under the names of Elizabeth Peters and Barbara Michaels wrote 66 mystery novels and many other non-fiction works, is shown signing her latest work, Amelia Peabody's Egypt, for Marie. Dr. Mertz was the recipient of Malice's new Amelia Award, named for her main character, Amelia Peabody, Malice's Lifetime Acheivement Award, Mystery Writer's of America Grandmaster Award and the Grandmaster Award from Bouchercon, among many other honors.

Felix Francis,mystery thriller author who continues the writing tradition of his father, the late Dick Francis, speaks on May 5 on his father's work and his own. Dick Francis wrote 39 best-selling novels, and the last four, Dead Heat (2007), Silks (2008), Even Money (2009), and Crossfire(2010) were written with Felix Francis.
Malice Domestic presented Carolyn Hart, whose 50th book, Dead, White and Blue, was published in 2013, with the 2013 Amelia Award. Hart, the author of the Death on Demand series. has also won three Agatha Awards, two Anthony Awards, and two Macavities, numerous other awards, and is a founding member of Sisters in Crime. Hart has spoken at libraries, conventions and workshops throughout the world, including the National Book Festival and Library of Congress.
